It's hard to imagine a time when McDonald's wasn't available in virtually every city across the globe, but before Illinois salesman Ray Croc applied his tenacity to the company, the world could barely fathom an entire meal being ready in just a few minutes. In the upcoming The Founder, Michael Keaton plays Croc with all the tenacity you'd expect from Keaton, as evidenced by the new trailer.

From the synopsis:

"Written by Robert Siegel (BIG FAN), THE FOUNDER is a drama that tells the true story of how Ray Kroc (Michael Keaton), a salesman from Illinois, met Mac and Dick McDonald, who were running a burger operation in 1950s Southern California. Kroc was impressed by the brothers' speedy system of making the food and saw franchise potential. He maneuvered himself into a position to be able to pull the company from the brothers and create a billion-dollar empire."

January and February are typically the dumping grounds for studios who don't think their films will be eligible for Oscars, so it's worrisome that The Founder is hitting theaters in just a few weeks. That's not to say the film is bad, but you'd think Keaton in a biopic about one of the most well-known brands in the world would be Oscar bait for sure.

Or maybe there will be a secret film that tells the story of the infamous Burger King and the terrible crimes he committed in the name of his almighty deity "The Whopper" that will be released later this year and The Founder just wanted to distance themselves from it.
