During a recent Fatman on Batman podcast, while discussing how odd it was to hear British actor David Harewood (who potrays Martian Manhunter) use his natural voice on the set of Supergirl, Kevin Smith sung the opening lyrics to "Portobello Road," a song written by the Sherman Brothers for Disney's Bedknobs and Broomsticks — a 1971 British-American musical fantasy film that combined live-action and animation.

Smith then mentioned that he would be open to directing a remake of Bedknobs and Broomsticks, if Disney ever decided to make one. "Bedknobs and Broomsticks can be remade today," Smith said. "That movie can so f--king work today. In a world where Disney's like, 'Pete's Dragon!' and sh-t like that... Hey! I will f--king s-ck d-ck Disney to make the remake of Bedknobs and Broomsticks."

Bedknobs and Broomsticks - When young Charlie, Carrie and Paul move to a small village during World War II, they discover their host, Miss Price, is an apprentice witch! Although her early attempts at magic create hilarious results, she successfully casts a traveling spell on an ordinary bedknob, and they fly to the fantastic, animated Isle of Naboombu to find a powerful spell that will save England!

The 1971 film starred Angela Lansbury as Miss Eglantine Price, David Tomlinson as Mr. Emelius Browne, Ian Weighill as Charles "Charlie" Rawlins, Cindy O'Callaghan as Carrie Rawlins, Roy Snart as Paul Rawlins, and Roddy McDowall as Mr. Rowan Jelk.

It was directed by Robert Stevenson and written by Bill Walsh and Don DaGradi.
