On Tuesday morning, Netflix announced that Narcos will return for at least two more seasons.

The news dropped only days after all ten episodes of Season 2 were released to the streaming service on Friday, September 2. For Netflix, this is a rare multi-season renewal. The most notable multi-season deal for the streaming service was flagship drama Orange is the New Black, for which Netflix renewed the series for 3 more seasons.

The executive producers on the show, José Padilha (Elite Squad, RoboCop) and Eric Newman (Children of Men), will remain with the series, which is produced by Gaumont International Television for Netflix, according to Variety.

Before the release of season two, Padilha and Newman addressed their plans to stay with the show by stating, "We'll stop when the drug trade stops." Newman added, "We'll stop when you stop. That's our pact with America."

When speaking about season two, the producers mentioned that rather than focusing on the story on a grand scale, they boiled down the storyline to 18 months of Pablo Escobar's life. "It allowed us to slow down and live with the characters a little bit more than we could have last season," Newman stated. "Now we're watching his empire collapse around him."

Season 3 of Narcos will be coming to Netflix next year in 2017.

Narcos tells the real-life stories from the thrilling saga surrounding Pablo Escobar's stint as the most infamous drug kingpin of the late 1980's. The series chronicles the brutally bloody conflict between the drug cartels and the law enforcement that revolves around one of the world's most valuable commodities, cocaine.

The series stars Wagner Moura (Elite Squad, Elysium), Boyd Holbrook (Gone Girl), Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones). José Padilha (Elite Squad, RoboCop) and Eric Newman (Children of Men) serve as the executive producers on the highly acclaimed series.

Do you look forward to watching Season 3 and Season 4 of Narcos on Netflix?
