MIB 21 Jump Street

Not too long ago Sony announced that the studio was crossing over two of their more popular franchises, but they weren't the ones that most were expecting.

That crossover turned out to be 21 Jump Street (which stars Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill) and Men In Black (starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones), an eccentric pairing to say the least. If that sounds like a match made in heaven, you might want to cool your expectations, because Hill doesn't necessarily think it will happen.

The actor spoke to the Toronto Sun and quashed some hopes and dreams right up front.

"I had the idea," Hill tells Postmedia Network. "But I doubt that movie will get made."

"It's too complicated," Hill concedes. "They're trying to make all the deals, but it's kind of impossible with all the Men in Black stuff. The Jump Street films were so fun to make and the whole joke of them was they were making fun of remakes and sequels and reboots and then now it's become a giant sequel, reboot. It's almost become what we were making fun of and it's hard to maintain that joke when it's so high stakes."

He's not wrong, and the box office hasn't been so kind to sequels and franchises lately either, so there might be some additional incentive to avoid such an expensive and complicated endeavor. Even if it did happen, stars like Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones would not return for it.

While Men in Black and 21 Jump Street may never collide, Hill would love to do another Jump Street if the team was onboard.

"I love Channing and I love (directors) Phil Lord and Chris Miller and I love making those movies — they're a lot of fun. So I hope it works out."
