The first teaser trailer for Arrival has been released online.

Arrival follows Amy Adams' Dr. Louise Banks, an expert linguist, as she is recruited to approach an alien craft which unexpectedly landed on Earth. Her task is to determine whether the foreign beings come in peace or pose a threat to humanity.

A longer, more intense and action-packed trailer for the film was shown at CinemaCon in April. At the time it was called Story of Your Life but has since been renamed Arrival. Below is a description of the footage...

Dr. Louise Banks describes the day "they" arrived. She teaches an empty college class. A student gets some shocking news. A new report shows off the "objects" that landed. Whitaker's Colonel Weber asks to enter her office and asks her to translate a recording of aliens. Someone asks why they are here and the response is animalistic. Renner's Ian Donnelly, in a helicopter, tells Banks how important language is. His name is Ian. They're headed to "the ship." The ship stands very tall, shaped like an over, levitating about 50 feet off the ground in a big green field. They put on orange haz-mat suits and head inside, where they find a bright white light. Some aliens, which can hardly be seen but look like flying octopuses, approach from the light. Banks wants to communicate with them. She puts her hand on glass and a tentacle hits the other side. News reports claim that the aliens may be trying to pit humans against each other. Much discussion of language ensues. Adams insists that if the aliens stay, the humans have to stay. Things get chaotic, explosions, the ship falls from the the scar, Donnelly to a window.

The cast features Amy Adams (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) as Dr. Louise Banks, Jeremy Renner (Captain America: Civil War) as Ian Donnelly, Forest Whitaker (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) as Colonel Weber, Michael Stuhlbarg (Men in Black 3) as Agent Halpern, Tzi Ma (Rush Hour) as General Shang, and Mark O'Brien ("Republic of Doyle") as Captain Marks.

The film is directed by Denis Villeneuve ("Sicario," "Prisoners") and based on "Stories of Your Life and Others," a short story by Nebula and Hugo Award-winning author Ted Chiang.

Arrival will arrive in theaters November 11th!
