Just about an hour ago, the news broke that Star Trek and The Green Room actor Anton Yelchin had passed away at age 27 following a freak car accident at his home.

As you would expect when a young, up-and-coming actor with a key role in a beloved Hollywood franchise under his belt passes away, there are dozens of online tributes popping up from friends, collaborators and Hollywood insiders mourning the loss.

His Star Trek Beyond co-stars posted messages on social media:

John Cho: I loved Anton Yelchin so much. He was a true artist - curious, beautiful, courageous. He was a great pal and a great son. I'm in ruins.

Karl Urban: I can't believe it , I m fckn hurting bad !

Star Trek Beyond director, Justin Lin tweeted: Still in shock. Rest in peace, Anton. Your passion and enthusiasm will live on with everyone that had the pleasure of knowing you.

Star Trek Next Generation alum LeVar Burton posted "OMG... Nooooo!" with a link to one of the many articles written about Yelchin's passing.

Guillermo del Toro, who directed Anton in the Trollhunters TV show said he was, "The sweetest, most humble, delightful, talented guy you'd ever meet. Worked together for about a year. Shocked." Following with a second tweet, "Anton was a sweetheart. Absolutely a great creative partner and artist."

Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Charlie Weber shared via twitter: "Any young actor who wants to see someone doing it for real watch anything Anton Yelchin ever did..... Fabulous actor who will be missed."

Star Trek alum George Tekei posted this on his facebook with over 1800 comments all grieving the loss to a far too young actor who had yet to hit his peak.

As previously reported by ComicBook.com, reports indicate that Yelchin was killed after being pinned between his car and a brick mailbox. The car was in neutral, with the engine running, when he was found. The driveway on the property is apparently on a steep incline.
