An alligator attacked then dragged a two-year-old boy into the water on the shores of Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa on Tuesday night and is still missing. The boy's father tried but was unable to save the boy from being pulled away by the gator.

Spokesperson for the Orange County Sheriff's Office, Jeff Williamson, stated "Right now we're going to bring in some fresh eyes and continue with the search. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best." The authorities are calling the situation a search and rescue as deputies are covering the grounds by air and water.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, "teams searching for the toddler found four gators, but no sign of the child." As of Wednesday morning, the toddler has still not been found but the search continues.

Florida Fish and Wildlife director, Nick Wiley, reported that the family communicated that the child was standing near the edge of a lagoon located by the hotel when the gator pulled him into the water according to an interview CNN.

There were two other families that were near the lagoon at the time and the authorities are going to interview all witnesses in order to learn as much as possible about the accident.

Vice President at the Disney Resort stated, Jacquee Wahler stated, "Everyone here at Disney World is devastated by this tragic accident. Our thoughts are with the family. We are helping the family and doing everything we can to assist law enforcement."

The authorities do not plan to abandon the search until the boy is found or recovered.

More on this as it develops.
