Jake Johnson Cast In The Mummy

Tom Cruise's The Mummy reboot is coming together. The latest cast member to join is New Girl star Jake Johnson.

Johnson appeared in the smash hit Jurassic World over the summer of 2015 and headlined his own film, Let's Be Cops, with Damon Wayans in 2014. His brand of acting likely means they'll be bringing a touch of human to the Universal film.

Johnson joins Cruise and Sofia Boutella in the cast, while Annabelle Wallis remains in talks to finally come aboard. Alex Kurtzman will direct the Jon Spaihts film.

The new movie, which will serve as the gateway to Universal's monster universe, will be set in the modern day. Cruise will play a special forces soldier, Wallis a scientist, and Boutella will likely play the titular role. Johnson's role was written specifically for him and he will portray a military member.

The Mummy reboot is set for release on June 9, 2017.
