Both The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 and The Good Dinosaur had a great Friday at the box office, as more people went to the movies on the big shopping day than the big family day before it. Mockingjay part 2 saw a 100% bump from Thanksgiving day for $20.8 million, while The Good Dinosaur jumped up 130% for $15.1 million on the day.

Creed also saw a solid increase of 74%, with the big awards buzz for the Michael B. Jordan Rocky spinoff helping the movie to what looks like a strong five-day of just shy of $40 million.

Friday didn't spell any good news for Victor Frankenstein, though, which while it improved by 71% day to day, that only brought it up to $804,000, with a holiday weekend estimate of just over $3 million total. The opening weekend genre flick came in 12th, below four films in their fourth week like Brooklyn and Spectre, and even The Martian in its ninth week in theaters.

The now estimated $73 million for Mockingjay's second weekend (a long one, of course), will bring the film in at just under $200 million for its first two. While it had the lowest opening weekend of the franchise, it also has the lowest drop off from week one to two. The film's biggest challenge now is getting the most it possibly can out of the next two weeks, as we hear there's a pretty big movie - a long awaited sequel - hitting on December 18, 2015. Yes, we're talking about the new Chipmunks.
