Director Matt Reeves, who directed Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, has announced that filming has commenced on War For the Planet of the Apes by releasing an official behind-the-scenes snap.

It features two actors wearing motion-capture suits. The scene is set on a Vancouver beach and has one ape approaching another ape who is riding a horse.

Reeves also confirmed that Michael Giacchino, who composed the score for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, is returning to compose the score of War for the Planet of the Apes.

Reeves co-wrote the script with screenwriter Mark Bomback.

War For the Planet of the Apes is scheduled for release on July 14, 2017.
