Move over, Captain America. There's a new commanding officer in charge of American popular culture.

And his name is Colonel Sanders.

In a move so crazy that it just might work, Kentucky Fried Chicken has hired funnyman and Saturday Night Live alumnus Norm MacDonald as their new live-action mascot. As the Colonel, MacDonald will headline KFC's marketing and advertisements with just as much majesty as you would expect.

"Other than not quite looking like him, his voice being different, and his inability to cook the world's best chicken, we thought Norm was the perfect choice to play the Real Colonel. I think the fans will agree," KFC's chief marketing officer Kevin Hochman joked in a statement.

You can check out Macdonald as the fast food legend, complete with that glorious bow-tie, in the advertisement below.

And here we thought that the Colonel Sanders adventure comic from San Diego Comic Con was the pinnacle of KFC's crazy marketing strategy.
