EastEnders' Sam Strike, who was recently rumored to be Spider-Man for a few minutes, is now in talks to head up the Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel Leatherface at Millennium Films, TheWrap reports.

Inside filmmakers Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo are directing the film from a script by Seth M. Sherwoood.

The film is a prequel to the existing canon, and Strike is nearing a deal to play Jackson, the teenager who grows up to be Leatherface.

The franchise launched in 1974, with the most recent installment hitting theaters in 2013. Producers Carl Mazzocone, Christa Campbell and Lati Grobman, who all had involvement in the 2013 film, are back for Leatherface.
