A new trailer for Prometheus director Ridley Scott's Biblical epic Exodus: Gods and Kings has been released online.

The film, which sees The Dark Knight's Christian Bale share the screen with Iron Man 3's Ben Kingsley, has unexpectedly become one of the most controversial films of the year, with conservative and Christian groups objecting to what appear to be historical inaccuracies while liberal and social justice groups are unhappy with what appears to be racially-insensitive casting.

Most of the lead characters are actors of Western descent, whereas slaves and other minor characters are more historically-accurate Middle Eastern and Jewish actors. Concerns by Christian groups last year led Noah to alter the film and trailer to include a disclaimer that it was a work of fiction inspired by the Bible.

The film itself will inevitably draw comparisons to past hits like the animated Prince of Egypt and Cecil B. DeMille's The Ten Commandments.

You can check it out below.

Exodus: Gods and Kings stars Christian Bale, Joel Edgerton, John Turturro, Aaron Paul, Ben Mendelsohn, Sigourney Weaver and Ben Kingsley. The film is expected in theaters on December 12, 2014.

From acclaimed director Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Prometheus) comes the epic adventure "Exodus: Gods and Kings," the story of one man's daring courage to take on the might of an empire. Using state of the art visual effects and 3D immersion, Scott brings new life to the story of the defiant leader Moses (Christian Bale) as he rises up against the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses (Joel Edgerton), setting 400,000 slaves on a monumental journey of escape from Egypt and its terrifying cycle of deadly plagues.
