Vince McMahon and Triple H are probably closer than they could have ever imagined. As father and son in law, the two don't just trade Christmas presents, but also wrestling talent.

While Vince is considered the father of WWE, Triple H is certainly the father of NXT. Being the developmental boss means that The Game has final say on who gets called up to the big leagues of WWE. At times, NXT has been absolutely gutted by WWE cherry picking their roster. While this is the purpose of their relationship, it sometimes leaves NXT's talent pool a little too shallow.

However, in an interview with the USA Today' For The Win, Triple H admitted there was one wrestler that he simply would not let Vince McMahon have. Yet.

"I would never want to limit someone's growth or their opportunities, but when Vince brought it up to me, I said the one person we can't afford to lose is Asuka. You could take everybody else you want to take – and trust me, he did – but I needed her as an anchor. If I lose her and everybody else, I'm doomed."

For those who don't follow NXT, Asuka is the NXT Women's Champion. But that doesn't do her justice - Asuka is undefeated.

"It's the faith to say that you're that person and to say that if you hold that championship that the belief is there in you to lead a division or a company or a group and to be in that position. For somebody like her, here's that faith for that long of a period of time and we're not beating you, we're keeping a championship on you and keeping it fresh. That's a pretty bold statement of how good you are."

The record for longest reigning Champion in the modern WWE no longer belongs to CM Punk. As pointed out recently by GiveMeSport, Asuka's steak is close to 500 days. The Empress of Tomorrow captured the NXT Women's Championship at NXT TakeOver: Dallas in 2016 and has barely been challenged ever since.

CM Punk had an impressive 434-day reign from November 20, 2011, to January 27, 2013, that was recognized by WWE as the sixth longest of all-time, as well as the longest of the "modern era". We'll have to wait and see if Asuka's accomplishment is acknowledged by the WWE this week.

Punk's Championship record wasn't the only one recently shattered by the NXT star as she also speared Goldberg's record of 173 straight wins earlier this year.

Since her October 2015 debut in NXT, Asuka, has become the most dominant performer to ever come through WWE developmental. She broke Paige's inaugural title reign of 308 days to become the longest reigning NXT Champion in history.

Next up on her hit list will be surpassing the New Day's 483-day reign as tag team champions. She only needs to carry the belt until SummerSlam to make that happen.

Asuka defends her NXT Women's Championship and her unbeaten streak tonight against Ember Moon at NXT Takeover Brooklyn III.
