5 Things You Missed From SmackDown Last Night
A lot happened on last night's SummerSlam go-home edition of WWE SmackDown Live. Some of it bad, [...]
Role Reversal?
Lana and Tamina Snuka had a backstage segment where they, non-sensically, seem to have completely switched roles in their storyline.
Last week, Lana was portrayed as the lesser of the two, out to get advice from Tamina. Tamina toyed with her, teased her about her embarrassing loss to Charlotte, and ended the show saying she would help Lana find her ambition.
This week, Lana was portrayed as the one in charge. Wearing her business suit, she explained to Tamina that she just wasn't quite up to snuff yet but she might help her get there. She actually directly said she would help Tamina find her ambition, which is the exact thing they said last week Tamina would help Lana with.
Huh?
prevnextNatalya Gets The Clean Win
Natalya achieved a clean, submission victory (via Sharpshooter) over Becky Lynch, solidifying her role as someone deserving of a championship match against Naomi at SummerSlam.
It was a decent back and forth match with Naomi on guest commentary. After the bout, Nattie went after Becky again but Naomi came into the ring to make the save. It was at that point that Miss Money In The Bank, Carmella, and James Ellsworth came on to the stage. They wished both Natalya and Naomi luck on Sunday and again teased that Carmella will be cashing in her briefcase following their match.

Daniel Bryan Is The Dorky Dad
So there was a backstage segment where the Usos approached Daniel Bryan. Bryan wanted to know if he could be the third member of their rap group. I guess I must have missed the part where the Usos are a rap group?
HANDS IN! Per #SDLive GM @WWEDanielBryan, @WWEUsos will face #TheNewDay's @TrueKofi and @XavierWoodsPhD TONIGHT! pic.twitter.com/IZq7zt4DRp

Anyway, Bryan went on about laying out some "sick beats." This really made no sense. The Usos are heels, so what's the story here? Shouldn't he be angry at the Usos, not wanting to join up with them? I don't know, maybe I'm being too logical here.
The Usos went on to have a match with The New Day vs. Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, a preview of the SummerSlam title match on Sunday. They went out of the way to say this is New Day's speed pairing, whereas the combo on Sunday will be their strength pairing (Big E and Xavier Woods).

Kofi Kingston took the pinfall, which made sense since he's the one not wrestling on Sunday. Even so, the fact that New Day lost here makes it seem a foregone conclusion that they will win on Sunday.
prevnextChad Gable Will Be A Star One Day
Rusev and Chad Gable had a rematch from their great match on SmackDown two weeks ago. This bout wasn't given much time, a double count-out in around two minutes, but Gable just has something about the way he carries himself.
At this point, Gable is looking like the real star from the former American Alpha pairing. Though Jordan is obviously being pushed harder, that "Angle's son" story seems to be dying a slow death so perhaps it's for the better.
After the match, Rusev got on the mic and hyped up his SummerSlam match with Orton. Orton came running in out of nowhere and hit an RKO on him.

Breezango Returns In Two Weeks
They aired the final "Fashion Peaks" backstage segment with Tyler Breeze and Fandango. This was easily the least funny of all the installments, so I think it's safe to say the segment has run it's course.
After some bad jokes and Tyler Breeze wearing a really ugly wig (think Shawn Michaels' 2002 haircut), Breeze said he was going to throw a "space rock" from his pocket, which would catch the culprits. In walked The Ascencion, getting hit by the rock. They came to return their pie from before, saying it was awful. Fandango examined it and agreed it was bad, finding gluten and a band-aid in it. He said he was most scared of the gluten.

The segment concluded with a piece of paper saying "Two B" being found by Fandango. They both agreed that this indicated danger on the horizon and said the rest of the tag team division is in trouble. A screen then came up that said Breezango will return in "25 years." That number then disappeared and it changed to "two weeks."
