In his short time in WWE AJ Styles has tussled with some of the biggest names in the company. Roman Reigns, John Cena and even wrestling unicorn, Shane McMahon, have all shared the ring with the Phenomenal One. However, the newly crowned US Champion wants his next WWE's left field.

Styles joined former WWE Superstars, Edge and Christian on recent episode of their podcast, E&C's Pod of Awesomeness

"I have yet to wrestle Rusev and I think that would be really fun, to wrestle a guy like him. But there are guys on the RAW side that I haven't really been in the ring with like Seth Rollins and Finn Balor. I think people want to see."

Dropping a name like Rusev is bound to raise some eyebrows. Not that Rusev isn't capable, in fact, most fans believe that the Bulgarian brute is one of WWE's most underutilized talents. Despite being so promising, WWE just has yet to provide him with momentum building booking opportunities. Actually, they did just the opposite and their decisions lead to Rusev being our Coldest Wrestler in WWE last week.

Styles vs. Rusev could be a blast. While he and fans alike are quick to throw out names like Rollins and Balor, their styles may be too similar to create a profound chemistry. However, Rusev's character provides a juicy juxtaposition for the high flying Styles.

Rusev too is familiar with the land of the US Championship - it's a level of WWE he has yet to surpass. A dynamite match with Styles could finally give Rusev the elevation he deserves. Who knows, WWE could grant Styles' wish as soon as this week's SmackDown.

In his interview, Styles also made room to discuss some long term goals. And as the best wrestler on the planet, he wants the sports greatest stage:

"I would like to somehow find myself back at the main event. Everybody wants to be in the main event of WrestleMania. I'll keep climbing that ladder and see where it takes me, but there's nothing better than being a part of WrestleMania except being in the main event of WrestleMania."

Styles back in the main event seems inevitable as he performed so well in that slot last year. But to reach WrestleMania's main event, Styles will have to move to RAW. That's not out of the question either as there have already been rumors about the next Superstar Shake Up.

For now, Styles will have to settle for a US Championship defense at SummerSlam - and it may just come against Rusev.
