Following his third-round KO win against Daniel Cormier at UFC 214 last night, Light Heavyweight Jon Jones called out WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar, further teasing a possible future match between the two, as you can see in the video below:

Jones didn't mince words in his message to The Beast, saying "If you want to know what it feels like to get your ass kicked by someone who weighs 40 pounds less than you, meet me in the Octagon"

Lesnar immediately issued his own response to Jones' challenge last night via The Associated Press, warning the UFC champ "Be careful what you wish for, young man."

When AP previously contacted Lesnar regarding the prospect, he had replied in a similarly direct manner "Would I fight Jon Jones? Anytime, anywhere. Right now he should be worried about D.C. on Saturday night."

But Jones also shared a moment with WWE legend Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who was in attendance at UFC 214 on Saturday. Johnson once considered a career in MMA, and remains a big fan of the sport, hanging out with Jones before and after his fight.

As you can see in the video below, both stars confessed their mutual respect and admiration. Jones even gave his best impression of The Rock's famous catchphrase, while reporters floated the prospect of the two someday teaming up at WrestleMania.

A UFC super-fight pitting Jones against Lesnar, on the other hand, may be slightly more likely to go down in the near future. Both fighters have fueled recent rumors, but several obstacles remain. Lesnar has to finish out serving a one-year suspension after failing two drug tests in connection with his fight against Mark Hunt at UFC 200 last year. When Lesnar retired from MMA, his suspension was frozen. He must be back in the testing pool for a full four months before he's able to fight. Last time he fought he was granted a testing exemption, but this resulted in his suspension and a civil lawsuit filed by his opponent. He's also currently under contract with the WWE until next year's WrestleMania 34.

UFC President Dana White was in the Octagon when Jones called out Lesnar on Saturday night and also commented on the bout.

"It's fun to talk about, but the reality of it happening anytime soon, it's not a reality," White said.

Still, Jones is open to the fight if the details can be worked out. In a recent Facebook Live chat, he teased the possibility:

"I would love to fight Brock Lesnar. He's a massive dude. I mean, it would be a massive draw. Really big for the sport. It'd be a great challenge. That's a big ol' boy. I doubt Brock Lesnar would take that fight, though. I definitely wouldn't try to wrestle with him the whole time."

Jones elaborated further last night, saying "If I'm going to sacrifice being the smaller guy, I think stylistically, Brock [Lesnar] would be a fight that makes more sense," Jones said. "The payday would be tremendous. The (impact) for our sport would be tremendous."

Both Jones and Lesnar have been suspended by UFC for violating their doping policy. Obviously, Jones' suspensions up, but Lesnar's is frozen and still has five months remaining.

It was reported last week that Lesnar had re-submitted himself to UFC's testing pool, starting the clock on the remainder of his suspension. However, those reports are said to be false by UFC's President of Athlete Health and Performance, Jeff Novitsky, who also said there is "zero truth" to stories that Lesnar and Paul Heyman met with UFC officials.

However, this has spurred rumors that Lesnar may depart for UFC once his contract is up with WWE, following WrestleMania 34. But despite letting his advocate Paul Heyman do most of his talking for him, Lesnar is a shrewd businessman and this is likely his long-term plan to get the most money from everyone.

We do know that Triple H is always eager to invite top UFC champions to make appearances in the WWE. If Lesnar is indeed unable to compete in the UFC octagon in the near future, could we possibly see Jon Jones in a WWE ring sooner? Considering his friendly interaction with Dwayne Johnson last night, WWE could use The Rock's star power to help make this happen.

In the meantime, Brock Lesnar is still currently WWE Universal Champion and is set to defend his title on August 20th at SummerSlam. These signs of his impending departure could conceivably provoke WWE to put the title on someone else. WWE has to perfect opportunity to do this, with Lesnar going up against the company's top heavy hitters Roman Reigns, Samoa Joe, and Braun Strowman at its upcoming second largest PPV event.
