Finn Balor recently joined Peter Rosenberg and the Cheap Heat Podcast to discuss his wrestling career. The former Universal Champion had plenty to talk about, in particular, dream matches.

When Rosenberg asked him if there was one guy in WWE he'd like to work with:

Up Next: Has WWE Gone Cold on Finn Balor?

"Someone, who like, we've always kind of miss each other on a career path is AJ. When he came to Japan I was in NXT. When I was in NXT he went to WWE. But then when I got drafted to Raw he got drafted to SmackDown. So we always kind of missed each other."

Balor admitted that Styles was his personal favorite but also is eager to get in the ring with the pillars of WWE:

"Me now being in WWE mode, I want John Cena. I want Brock Lesnar. I want Randy Orton. To me that's WWE. I want the WWE match-ups that I dreamed when I was in Japan. Going 'You know what, can I hang with that guy? I wonder how I would fair, how would a much look how would it feel, how would I feel locking up with that guy?"

All of these matches sound lovely, yet, they aren't as possible they were in May. Not long ago, it seemed that Finn Balor vs. Brock Lesnar felt imminent. But as of today, it appears tat WWE has pivoted away from Balor.

With the surge that Samoa Joe has enjoyed along with the near biblical rise of Braun Strowman, the main event is spoken for. Add the newfound flexibility of John Cena flipping from RAW to SmackDown and it's easy to see how Balor is getting pushed off the top of WWE's card.

However, WWE is still making an effort to keep the Demon King relevant. Since his Extreme Rules defeat, Balor has been mixing it up with WWE's newest addition, the Drifter, Elias Sampson.

For a guy who was once rumored to be a marquee opponent for the Beast Incarnate, Balor has certainly taken a step back. Luckily in wrestling, it's easy to heat up a talent. But for that to happen, a wrestler has to earn it. Finn may have his work cut out for him. We'll know if he's in actual danger of slipping away by what WWE does with him for SummerSlam.
