'Lost' Showrunner Returns to ABC With New Deal

Carlton Cuse is returning to television thanks to a new multi-year deal with ABC Studios, Variety reports.

Cuse previously served as showrunner for the channel's megahit Lost, working on the show for six seasons alongside Damon Lindelof. Cuse will launch his company, Genre Arts, and will focus on creating new projects for ABC alongside other writers and creators. The showrunner has previously launched multiple series including A&E's Bates Motel, FX's The Strain and USA's Colony.

"Forming a partnership with a writer/producer/director as talented and prolific as Carlton Cuse is a major victory for ABC Studios," said Patrick Moran, president of ABC Studios. "We're so looking forward to working with him again and bringing his signature creativity back to our studio."

"It is with great pleasure that I am returning to ABC Studios, my happy home for six years during 'Lost.' I am very excited to be working alongside wonderful and iconic Disney brands like Marvel, Pixar and Lucasfilm to create and bring entertaining and compelling stories to the screen," Cuse said. The news comes days after it was revealed that producer Shonda Rhimes has left ABC Studios for a new deal with Netflix.
