Apple announced on Thursday its updates to the iPod lineup and revealed it would discontinue the iPod Nano and iPod Shuffle.

Business Insider reports that the two music-playing devices will be discontinued from the iPod family as the company begins to focus on its core devices that also play music.

"Today, we are simplifying our iPod lineup with two models of iPod touch now with double the capacity starting at just $199 and we are discontinuing the iPod Shuffle and iPod Nano," the company said in an email to Business Insider.

The Nano and Shuffle came out in 2005 as the smaller, more economic-friendly alternatives to the standard iPod. However, consumers might have noticed the products were being slowly phased out after the Silicon Valley company stopped updating the devices years ago.

The end of the iPod was foreseen when the company hit their peak sales in 2008 with a staggering $9.8 billion. The two devices are no longer available on Apple's website and online store.

For those who are sentimental and nostalgic of the times, the mega tech giant will continue to sell their wifi-friendly iPod Touch with double the storage, but for a more affordable price along the lines of 32 GB for $199 and 128 GB for $299.
