In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Couric, said she was proud of her time anchoring live events and political coverage for Yahoo.

"Over the past three years, we have produced a wide range of high-quality video content that was delivered to millions of viewers," she said. "I learned some valuable lessons during my tenure, which I will take with me as I continue to create, develop and produce a variety of content for different platforms in this constantly evolving landscape."

The publication goes on to add that instead of extending her contract with Yahoo parent company, Oath — a Verizon subsidiary — Couric will continue to work with them on a project basis.

In a statement to Recode, a spokesperson for Oath said Couric's vast portfolio has been "equal parts inspiring, thought-provoking and fun to watch."
