Weekend Box Office: Baby Driver Projected to Speed By Transformers 5
This week's box office battle will see Edgar Wright's stylistic car chase heist film Baby Driver [...]
Baby Driver
Starring: Ansel Elgort, Lily James, Jamie Foxx, Eiza González, Jon Hamm, Jon Bernthal, and Kevin Spacey
Rated: R
Runtime: 1 hour 53 min
As you can see in our video review above, Baby Driver is already being hailed as one of (if not THE) best movies of the summer - and not without good reason.
Director Edgar Wright has made a steady lineup of fun and energetic genre-bending action films (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, The World's End, Scott Pilgrim) - but Baby Driver is his best film yet. If you like the slick crime caper flicks of Quentin Tarantino, or hip modern movies with killer soundtracks (Guardians of the Galaxy, [500] Days of Summer), then definitely check this flick out. The ensemble cast is top-notch.

Starring: Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Trey Parker, Miranda Cosgrove, Jenny Slate, Steve Coogan and Julie Andrews
Rated: PG
Runtime: 1 hour 30 min
Despicable Me 3 is pulling out a "long-lost twin" twist in a story of how Steve Carell's Gru gets coerced into returning to crime for one last heist.
Reviews for Despicable Me 3 haven't been all that strong, but does it matter? Kids love the Despicable Me series and The Minions that come with it, and they aren't likely to lose any of that love if this third chapter is the greatest animated story ever told.
With so many fans already invest in the franchise, Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment should have an easy pathway to a box office win - even with Cars 3 still competing.

Transformers: The Last Knight will be entering its second-week run in theaters this week. The film has been the worst-reviewed installment of the franchise so far, and also has the lowest opening weekend box office of any film in the franchise.
While those two things are clear negative indicators, Transformers, as always, has its section of passionate fans and defenders. The question is: how many of those fans are out there? And is it possibly enough for Transformers 5 to avoid a massive second-week drop in box office earnings?
