Jurassic World upped the dinosaur ante in 2015, after introducing audiences to the enormous and terrifying Indominus Rex. With the sequel, it looks like the creative team is bringing in even more dangerous dinos.
A few images have begun to surface online, depicting some of the animatronic models of the new dinosaurs being used in the new film. These were taken by some people passing by the set, and they depict two different types of dinosaurs.
Most of the images are of a Dilphosaurus, which long-time fans of the Jurassic franchise will probably remember from the original movie. If you recall, this is the dinosaur that sprayed down Nedry in the Jeep, after he'd lost his glasses. The use of the Dilphosaurus could be a great step toward taking the franchise back in the direction of the first film.
The second dinosaur pictured is the Apatosaurus, but it's much harder to make out. In the photo, you can see the long-neck bending down on the left side, appearing near its large trunk-like legs.
If these photos are any indication, Jurassic World 2 is going to contain a ton of dinosaurs. That, paired with the fact that the original T-Rex is returning, is getting Jurassic fans all sorts of excited.
Jurassic World 2 is being directed by J.A. Bayona and stars Bryce Dallas Howard (Claire), Chris Pratt (Owen), Rafe Spall, BD Wong (Dr. Henry Wu), Toby Jones, and Justice Smith. The film is being produced by Belen Atienza, Patrick Crowley, and Frank Marshall, with Steven Spielberg, Colin Trevorrow, and Thomas Tull serving as executive producers.
In Jurassic World, located off the coast of Costa Rica, the Jurassic World luxury resort provides a habitat for an array of genetically engineered dinosaurs, including the vicious and intelligent Indominus rex. When the massive creature escapes, it sets off a chain reaction that causes the other dinos to run amok. Now, it's up to a former military man and animal expert (Chris Pratt) to use his special skills to save two young boys and the rest of the guests from an all-out, prehistoric assault.
Jurassic World 2 is scheduled for release on June 22, 2018.
