Kendall Jenner has had her fair share of controversies in 2017, but none compare to the disastrous Pepsi commercial controversy back in April.

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star faced an onslaught of hate for the ad, which was accused of making light of the recent breakout of protests against police brutality. Jenner never commented on the incident, but now her half-sister is sharing how the model actually reacted to it.

Kim Kardashian revealed that her sister was in tears over the controversy, but was being told to not speak out about it at all.

"We're not perfect, but you see these things in the media, like Kendall and [Pepsi], where it hasn't been portrayed right," Kardashian told THR. "I see her at home crying, but in the media she looks another way because she's not addressing it. The team and everyone's telling her not to, and I'm just like, 'This is wrong. You need to speak up.'"

West also revealed that Jenner refused to allow footage of her reaction to air on KUWTK.

"She was like, 'I don't ever want to show that footage of me crying,'" Kardashian said. "She was trying to not make excuses or be dramatic, but that was what she was going through at the time."

While Jenner didn't respond to the criticism, Pepsi apologized and removed the commercial.

"Pepsi was trying to project a global message of unity, peace and understanding," the company said. "Clearly, we missed the mark, and we apologize. We did not intend to make light of any serious issue. We are removing the content and halting any further rollout."
