As a mom of three, Kristin Cavallari is a long way from her Laguna Beach days. On the heels of her 2016 memoir Balancing In Heels, Cavallari published her first-ever cookbook, and since then, she's ditched diets for good.

Since having kids, she told Well + Good "I'm a much healthier eater and I hardly drink alcohol," which signifies a lifestyle change that's had a huge impact on her health. Spurred on originally by her desire to go all-natural during her first pregnancy, Cavallari confesses that she made some major adjustments in her life: "I changed the way I was eating, and I've maintained it ever since. I feel the best I've ever felt. I haven't been on a diet in five years," she explains, but it's working for her better than any diet ever has. "I have more energy, my skin is the clearest it's been, and I sleep like a baby," she says.

Another counter-intuitive lifestyle change that's really paid off? Ditching cardio.

"Cardio used to be all I did before I had kids," she confesses; but with three children, her daily needs have changed. Since she no longer has large chunks of time to devote to extended sweat sessions, she's traded them for strength training.

"I just lift weights, usually four to five times a week—I've worked out with a trainer for so many years that I just kind of know what to do now. I guess you could call it circuit training," she says. And her diet (or lack-of-diet) has contributed to this decision, too: "I've found that it's about building and maintaining muscle rather than losing weight now," she says, explaining how she fuels herself differently these days.
