Casey Affleck and his wife Summer Phoenix are officially divorcing after being unable to reconcile during their separation.
The couple separated in March 2016, but Phoenix just filed for divorce on Monday, according to E!. She listed the reason for the spilt as irreconcilable differences.
The couple has been married since 2006 and have two children together, 13-year-old Indiana and 9-year-old Atticus. Phoenix has applied for joint physical and legal custody of both children.
Phoenix, who is the youngest sibling in the Phoenix acting family, is also asking for spousal support from Affleck.
The two met in 1995 after being introduced by Summer's brother Joaquin.
"She was going out with someone else and I said, 'Man, she's cute,' and [Joaquin] said, 'You should see if she'll go out with you… don't worry about that dude,'" Affleck said in a previous interview. "So he was leaving town one day and said, 'My sister's in my apartment and she's all by herself—would you mind checking in on her?' So I checked in on her, and it stuck."
They performed in the play This Is Our Youth together in 2001. They also jointly supported numerous charities like PETA, as well as promoted veganism.
Affleck was faced with resurfaced accusations of sexual harassment earlier this year as he was campaigning for the Academy Award for Best Actor, which he later won. The alleged incidents happened while he was directing the 2010 film I'm Still Here (which coincidentally starred Joaquin). The couple was married at the time of the alleged incidents.
