Could Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson Play Both Shazam And Black Adam In A Shazam Movie?

Earlier this week, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson finally confirmed that he will playing a role in an upcoming Warner Bros. film based on Shazam.

What Johnson did not confirm was whether he would be playing the titular hero, or his nemesis, Black Adam.

Comments made by Johnson seem to lean towards the possibility of him playing Black Adam, but could it be that he is playing both?

Johnson has a pretty imposing enough physical presence, one that would be hard to cast against, so perhaps Warner Bros. decided to cast him against himself. Shazam and Black Adam both get their powers from the same source, an ancient wizard, and have physical transformations when they activate their powers. The identical appearances can be played off of the idea that the two characters' similar transformations create similar appearances.

This would also explain why there's only been one major casting rumor about the film so far, that being Johnson's role. Typically, with superhero films, rumors flood out sometimes months, if not years, before the film begins production. Everyone's talking about Johnson's role, but if he's playing Black Adam, then why is nobody talking about who is playing Shazam? Or vice versa?

It certainly wouldn't be the first time that an actor has played multiple roles in a film. Eddie Murphy and Tyler Perry are known for it, though those were strictly comedic roles.

Either way, Johnson promises an official announcement soon, so we shouldn't have long to wait before we find out some more details.
