G.I. Joe: Retaliation's Luke Bracey Set For Point Break Remake

Luke Bracey, who played Cobra Commander in G.I. Joe: Retaliation as well as spending some screen time with Arrow's Katie Cassidy in the romantic comedy Monte Carlo, will play Johnny Utah in the forthcoming remake of 1991's Point Break. Utah was originally played by Keanu Reeves. Bracey, who will next star in the Nicholas Sparks adaptation The Best of Me alongside X-Men star James Marsden, will star opposite 300's Gerard Butler, who will play Bodhi, the part originated by Patrick Swayze. That movie carries with it more baggage than the average Sparks adaptation does because Marsden's character was originally set to be played by Paul Walker, until the actor's untimely death. Point Break is being directed by Invincible's Ericson Core. Kurt Wimmer scripted the remake, which Deadline reports will see the surfer-scene setting updated to the world of extreme sports.
