Warner Bros.'s animated hit The Lego Movie, fresh off a sequel release date announcement yesterday, is expected to take the top spot at the U.S. box office this weekend, generating almost $30 million, compared to less than half that for the #2 film, anticipated to be Kevin Costner's 3 Days to Kill. 3 Days to Kill is looking like an $11.7 million opening weekend, according to Deadline, who project Pompeii to make just under $10 million and RoboCop, which opened last week, to generate another $8.7 million. Monuments Men should round out the top five, with just under $8 million, unless something changes over the next couple of days. MGM, the cash-poor studio who are rich in intellectual property but rely on Sony to distribute most of their films, is expected to take the #4, 5 and 6 spots this weekend, with #6 being the '80s remake About Last Night, starring Ride Along's Kevin Hart.
