Paul Walker R.I.P.

Ever since Paul Walker's unexpected death in a car crash on Saturday, there have been a number of rumors about what will happen with Fast & Furious 7. The only thing that is known for certain is that filming for Fast & Furious 7 will be delayed as cast and crew grieve for their friend. Fast & Furious 7 director James Wan has commented twice on Paul Walker's death. After initially hearing the news, Wan wrote on Twitter, "I am so beyond heartbroken right now. I can't process anything." Earlier today, Wan added, "So many came out last night to the vigil. Thank you. Your love, heartfelt sympathy and prayers are with his family.." Odds are Wan hasn't had a lot of time to consider how or if to move forward on Fast & Furious 7, but according to TheWrap, those conversations are now taking place. According to their report, Universal Pictures is insured so the cost of scrapping the picture and starting over wouldn't be a huge financial burden to the studio. According to one of their sources, Universal Pictures was considering redoing the movie without Walker's character, Brian O'Conner. However, another of their sources said that was not under consideration. From a fan perspective, it would certainly be sad to see Paul Walker removed from the movie. However, ultimately, it would be best for Universal Pictures to follow whatever the wishes are of Walker's family. Including someone who died in a car crash in a car racing movie is definitely a tricky situation, but if handled correctly, the movie could serve as a great tribute to Walker. One option which was apparently discussed was using special effects to put Walker's face on someone else's body, but that possibility appears to have been abandoned thankfully.
