Helena Bonham Carter Added to Thor Director's Cinderella

Helena Bonham Carter has been cast as the fairy godmother in Disney's upcoming live-action feature Cinderella, directed by Sir Kenneth Branagh. Previously announced casting includes Cate Blanchett as the wicked stepmother, Lily James in the title role and Richard Madden as the prince. Earlier today, JoBlo's source at Disney claimed that the film is "going a different direction, as Cinderella actually meets Prince Charming before the ball and dives deep into her childhood origins, losing her family, and what led to her living with her wicked stepmother." Carter has been taking on more and more fantastical/mythological roles of late, appearing in the Harry Potter franchise as well as Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland and Disney's upcoming Lone Ranger movie.
