reported recently how Warner Bros. is making an aggressive push for The Dark Knight Rises to be considered for an Academy Award nomination in various categories. As the second highest grossing movie of the year, which received great reviews from both critics and audiences, it makes sense that Warner Bros. would feel that the Academy should give some consideration to The Dark Knight Rises. Now, what about The Avengers? It's the only movie that made more money at the box office this year than The Dark Knight Rises. The Avengers also received great reviews from both critics and audiences. Surely, The Avengers deserves the same Academy Award consideration as The Dark Knight Rises. However, it doesn't appear as if Disney is going to make a big push for The Avengers to be considered for Award nominations. On the Walt Disney Studios Awards site, Disney is instead focusing exclusively on promoting its animation offerings. The four pictures listed for consideration are Brave, Frankenweenie, Paperman, and Wreck-It-Ralph. Now, granted The Avengers isn't the type of film that the Academy normally nominates for Best Picture, but there are a lot of other categories where The Avengers has a good chance of being nominated. And even though the Academy likely won't nominate The Avengers for Best Picture, Comicbook.com has made a strong argument in the past that it should. We're surprised that The Avengers isn't at least getting a push for consideration.
