In a report that's likely to surprise a lot of people, Latino Review are claiming that Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World star Mary Elizabeth Winstead has pulled ahead to become the favorite for the hotly-contested role of Steve Rogers's love interest in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The role, which is presumed to be that of Sharon Carter, is apparently calling for a character who is in her twenties and has "an accent," the site reports. The site claims that Winstead is so much the favorite at Marvel that the studio may be holding off on previously-reported screen tests for actresses like Anna Kendrick and Alison Brie. While Brie might not be Marvel Universe-bound, she once starred with someone who might be, if the story is true. Lost star Josh Holloway, who appeared in Community's second "paintball episode" opposite Brie on NBC, is one of the favorites to play a couple of physical types theorized to be either villains or S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. Another name in that mix is Nikolaj Coster Waldau, of Game of Thrones fame, which might put him in the good graces of Thor: The Dark World director Alan Taylor, who has directed that show before. Cosmopolis and Lost actor Kevin Durand may also be in the mix, although the report characterizes him as "clinging to edge of it from the sound of things." Captain America: The Winter Soldier begins filming in March for an expected April 4, 2014 release date. The film stars Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie and...well, probably some of those listed above.
