The BBC gave viewers more than just a look at the evening news on Tuesday night. The network accidentally showed a woman with her breasts exposed during a live broadcast.

As presenter Sophie Raworth introduced the news of England's cricket series win over South Africa, an eagle-eyed viewer spotted a person watching some particularly NSFW material on a computer screen in the background.

The incident was called out by a viewer Lyndsey Robinson who took to Facebook to write, "Did anyone else notice news last night on BBC??? Thought I was seeing things...but just re-watched on iplayer...nope I definitely saw what I thought I had."

A BBC colleague who was wearing headphones and slumped back in a chair was unaware that the video being watched was in clear view of the live broadcast.

In the clip seen on the computer screen, a woman wearing a black outfit can be seen standing over a man. She is shown taking off her shorts before pulling off her top. The woman then unclasps her bra leaving her breasts in full view for anyone watching the evening news.

The blunder was seen by the show's 3.8 million viewers. A number of viewers took to social media to express their reaction to the incident.

"This has gone down like a lead balloon at the BBC. It is totally unprofessional. It beggars belief a sex scene should be played live on air. The employee is on borrowed time when bosses catch up with him," a TV source told The Sun.

BBC is investigating the incident.
