An 18-year-old woman whose newborn infant's remains were found buried outside her Ohio home has been indicted on charges of aggravated murder and other offenses, CBS News reports.

Brooke Skylar Richardson was indicted for involuntary manslaughter, child endangering, tampering with evidence and gross abuse of a corpose.

Due to burning and decomposition, cause of death hasn't been determined and may never be known. Richardson allegedly gave birth to a full-term baby, who was born alive, before she "purposely caused" the death of the infant, who was then burned and buried.

Authorities believe the baby was only alive for a few hours and they are trying to figure out the baby's sex, as well as the identity of the father.

Police initially thought the baby was a stillborn, but testing revealed the baby was born alive. The baby was born in May, and police found the body in July after receiving a tip.

Warren County Prosecutor David Fornshell said Richardson gave birth just days after attending her senior prom. Fornshell said he believes the evidence shows that Richardson was "pretty obsessed with external appearances and how she appeared to the outside world." The young woman was planning to attend the University of Cincinnati.

So far, no one else has been charged in the case, but the investigation is ongoing.
