A teacher from Oklahoma was seen on the side of the road last week asking for money.

The dedicated schoolteacher was trying to raise funds for her students' supplies, which she has to pay out of pocket for due to budget cuts.

Teresa Danks was filmed by her husband at an intersection in Tulsa asking strangers for donation to buy school supplies. Danks says she spent around $3,000 of her own money to provide supplies for her third grade students.

"Whatever it is, we spend our own money," she told Inside Edition.

Per her husband's suggestion, Danks made a sign that read, "Teacher Needs School Supplies! Anything helps. Thank you."

After a few hours walking the street, Danks raised $126, which overwhelmed her.

She took the issue to Facebook and started spreading awareness on a GoFundMe page, which has already raised nearly $25,000 for supplies for the teachers and students.

"It just really made me feel good," she said. "We love our kids."
