Madonna Blocks Auction of Tupac Prison Letter

Madonna has successfully blocked the auction of some her personal belongings, including a letter from late ex Tupac Shakur.

Tupac sent the letter from prison in order to explain why he ended the couple's relationship. It was one of a number of belongings being auctioned off by Madonna's former friend/art consultant, Darlene Lutz via the Gotta Have Rock and Roll auction site.

Madonna demanded the auction to be stopped because Lutz stole her property. She had no prior knowledge of the auction and wasn't aware some of the items were missing.

A New York City judge fulfilled Madonna's wishes on Tuesday, and stopped the auction.

As you'd expect, Lutz and the auction site are not pleased by Madonna's actions.

"Madonna and her legal army have taken what we believe to be a completely baseless and meritless action to temporarily halt the sale of Ms. Lutz's legal property," a spokesperson for both parties told TMZ. "We believe that her intent is nothing more than to besmirch the good reputations of the auction house and Ms. Lutz. Madonna's allegations will be vigorously challenged and refuted in a court of law in due course."

The letter, which had a starting bid of $100,000, features Tupac confessing that he dumped Madonna due to racial differences. While Madonna would be applauded for dating a black man, he felt he would be ostracized for dating a white woman.

"For you to be seen with a black man wouldn't in any way jeopardize your career, if anything it would make you seem that much more open and exciting," he wrote. "But for me at least in my previous perception I felt due to my 'image' I would be letting down half of the people who made me what I thought I was."

He seemed genuinely heartfelt while writing the letter, adding, "I never meant to hurt you."
