Ben Affleck reportedly considered himself a "serious actor" after filming a kissing scene with another man during his movie Chasing Amy.

According to Chasing Amy director Kevin Smith, the actor was very apprehensive about filming the scene with his co-star Jason Lee. During the 20th anniversary screening of the 1997 comedy at Outfest, the annual Los Angeles LGBTI film festival on Saturday, Smith spoke about the stars on-screen kiss.

Gay Star News reports that Smith recalled Affleck saying, "A man kissing another man is the greatest acting challenge an actor can ever face."

After completing the scene, Smith said Affleck stated, "Now, I'm a serious actor."

The 1997 film follows Affleck's character as he falls in love with a lesbian, played by Joey Lauren Adams, much to the bother of his best friend, Jason Lee.

Although Affleck never confirmed he said the lines Smith recited at the event at Saturday, one Hollywood actress was not happy about the context of the words.

Westworld star Evan Rachel Wood retweeted an article from Paper Magazine about Affleck's alleged words, which has since been deleted, and wrote, "Try getting raped in a scene. Also, grow up Ben."

She followed up that tweet with, "Also, you think us ladies kissing all the guys we kiss? Just cause it's a "straight kiss" doesn't mean we enjoy it. Ahem."

One twitter user did bring up a valid point in regards to this topic, he pointed out that the story was from 1997 and is recounted by someone other than Ben Affleck.

After Paper Magazine deleted its initial tweet about the article, the magazine explained why the post was removed from Twitter.

"An earlier tweet promoting a post about statements Ben Affleck made in 1997 was deleted because the language of the tweet was misleading," their follow-up tweet read.
