Thomas Rhett dropped some exciting news recently when he revealed to Rare Country via Country Fancast that he recorded a duet with pop star Selena Gomez, but fans may not be too pleased to hear the rest of what the country star had to say.

"It's possible," Rhett said when asked if the pair's duet would appear on his upcoming album.

"Anytime the country world melts into the pop world, it's an interesting conversation," he continued. "A lot of things need to go correct for it to work out. But yes, Selena did sing a song of mine. It's still sort of up in the air if it's going to actually make the record."

While Rhett hasn't yet met Gomez in person, he had nothing but nice things to say about the 24-year-old star.

"I've only been able to talk to her over the phone but I was blown away just how super nice and respectful [she was,] because I was terrified to talk to her, especially about the song," he shared. "Like, I was scared to say, 'Maybe if you try this' to the biggest superstar that literally exists in this world and I'm just me? (Laughs.) But yeah, she was so sweet and I can't wait to meet her someday."

Along with the possible Gomez collaboration, Rhett's latest album is set to feature his dad, Rhett Akins, and Maren Morris, whom he collaborated with for the recent duet "Craving You."
