Since the death of Rory Feek's wife and the other half of his musical duo, Joey Feek, the father of one has been focusing on his faith and his family, but now he will return to the stage.

Feek will perform on his family property in Tennessee where there is a concert hall. The two performances will take place on Sept. 8 and 9. It will mark Feek's first performance since his wife passed away in March 2016 at the age of 40 after a long battle with cancer.

He has been thinking about whether or not to go back to performing for the past few months.

"I just feel a responsibility like I should," he said during a press event to announce Oct. 20 as Heal the Music Day in Nashville, according to Taste of Country. "I should just get on stage and see what's there. What's in store. What would I say? What would I sing if I were there by myself?"

Heal the Music Day asks musicians to donate part of their proceeds from their performances from the day towards Music Health Alliance, a program that helps self-employed and independent members of the music community access health insurance or benefits.

The Music Health Alliance was integral in connecting Joey to the care she needed. After her death it also assisted Feek in sorting through the medical bills and paperwork.

The weekend of his first performance is Joey's birthday weekend. All proceeds will go to MHA.
