Fate of the Furious is tearing up the global box office right now, proving that the franchise's [...]
Goodbye, My (Side) Love...
The whole reason Dom turns evil in Fate of the Furious is because of the leverage that mercenary hacker Cipher (Charlize Theron) has on him. After Fast Five, when Dom fell for policewoman Elena Neves (Elsa Pataky), the two conceived a child - one that Elena kept hidden from Dom, after he discovered Letty was alive in Fast and the Furious 6. When Cipher gets her hands on Elena and Dom's son, Dom is forced to whatever the madwoman wants.
Of course, Dom is a self-titled "tiger" with a Cipher foot on his neck - a situation he never intends to let continue. Things get complicated when his former team (especially Letty) get in his way, resulting in a scene where he and Letty are alone in an alleyway, with Letty refusing to let go of the case that Dom need to retrieve for Cipher. Dom can't gun down his love in cold blood - and though he does ultimately retrieve the case, his hesitation is enough to piss Cipher off.
In one of the franchise's most disturbing scenes, Dom is forced to watch through a holding cell door as Cipher has her henchman, Rhodes (Kristofer Hivju), execute Elena in cold blood, in front of Dom and his son.

After Cipher kills Elena, Dom puts an ambitious plan into action to get himself out from Cipher's clutches.
While his team takes on Cipher and her hijacked Russian nuclear submarine, Dom stalls for time while some old faces from the franchise's past (find out who, HERE) unite to attack Cipher's plane and free Dom's son.
As Rhodes is perching himself to assassinate Dom's team with a high powered sniper rifle (starting with Letty), Dom gets the "all clear" that his son his safe. With that assurance, Dom goes full beast mode - starting with slamming Rhodes on the hood of his car, and snapping his neck. After that, Dom uses his car to trick some heat-seeking missiles into blowing up the submarine.
...Unfortunately, Dom's secret allies aren't able to apprehend Cipher during their raid of her base, leaving Dom with some very personal unfinished business to handle. See you in Fast and the Furious 9!
