AMC's programming line-up continues to beef up. With hit shows like The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead, Better Call Saul, Into the Badlands, and Preacher all being renewed for new seasons, the cable network has now revealed a teaser trailer for another original series: The Son.

The Son will star once-James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan. With Brosnan will be Henry Garrett, Shane graham, Electra Avellan, Caleb Burgress, Natan Cryz, Paolo Nunez, and Cherif Gacis. It is dubbed as a multi-generational epic telling of the story of America's birth as a superpower through the bloody rise and fall of one Texas oil empire.

Brosnan will play Eli, the charistmatic patriach of the McCullough family -- a role which was originally given to Sam Neill, who backed out prior to production. The Son is based on the Philipp Meyer book which helps flesh out Eli's story a bit more prior to Brosnan's portrayal on television.

As a child, Eli was taken by the Camanche Native American tribe which forced him to adopt their brutal outlook on the world. The character was born on the day which Texas became an independent Republic, earning Eli the nickname of "First Son of Texas."

Most recently, Brosnan appeared in the films No Escape and The Foreigner.

The Son will be exeuctive produced by Kevin Murphy (also serving as showrunner), with Sonar Entertainment and AMC Studios producing.

The Son is expected to arrive on AMC in 2017.
