The Ocean's series is relaunching with an immensely talented cast, but it will have a few nods to the films that proceeded it.

Ocean's 8 features a mostly female cast consisting of popular actresses like Sandra Bullock, Anne Hathaway, and Mindy Kaling, but the upcoming film will also have a cameo from Oceans 11-13 actor Matt Damon. Damon played Linus Caldwell, a skilled pickpocket who eventually becomes a core member of the group. In a recent interview with EW, Damon let fans know he is filming a small cameo for the project.

"I'm doing a little bit in the movie," Damon shared. "I haven't read it yet, but the cast is phenomenal and I'm excited to see what those women do with it. It's going to be fun."

While it does feature an all new cast, Ocean's 8 does take place in the same universe as the other three films, so Damon might not be the only familiar face to show up once all is said and done.

Ocean's 8 is being directed by Gary Ross, who also co-wrote the script with Olivia Milch. The film is set to star Sandra Bullock Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Cate Blanchett, Sarah Paulson, Mindy Kaling, Dakota Fanning, Helena Bonham Carter, Damian Lewis, Erick West, and Awkwafina.

The Ocean's franchise was originally adapted from the 1960 original, which starred Rat Pack members Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Peter Lawford, Joey Bishop, and Angie Dickinson. In the 2001 remake, George Clooney and Brad Pitt took the reigns and put a talented team together that spanned three films, with a cast that included Bernie Mac, Elliott Gould, Casey Affleck, Scott Caan, Shaobo Qin, Carl Reiner, Matt Damon, Andy Garcia, Julia Roberts, and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

The franchise has been dormant since 2007, and with such a talented potential cast, the odds are good that we'll see another trilogy of films soon.

Ocean's 8 is set to hit theaters on June 8, 2018.
