Never let it be said that Tom Cruise lacks a sense of urgency in his films, as a new compilation trailer reveals that Cruise never seems to stop running.

It's almost exhausting watching him run through just about every film, though it does explain why he's in such good shape. Who needs a trainer when you're required to sprint long distances in just about every movie. It makes sense in certain films, like the Mission Impossible franchise, where he plays a covert spy or War of the Worlds where he spends half the film running from violent aliens. Even Legend and The Last Samurai sort of make sense (via io9).

Still, the genre doesn't seem to matter, as he can also be found running in films like Cocktail, Jerry Maguire, The Firm, and Far and Away. The Firm might as well be a rebroadcast of the NFL combine, and the same goes for Risky Business.

It's not just that he's running, but how he runs. Many actors run in their movies, especially if they take on more action-centric roles. With Cruise, though, even when he's just trying to get to class on time, he runs as if being pursued by a herd of wildebeasts. Cruise is an intense actor, and it shows here.

The compilation was made by YouTube users Burger Fiction, and they'll probably need to add to the 18-minute trailer rather soon, as Cruise will undoubtedly be running some more in both Jack Reacher Never Go Back and his upcoming Mission Impossible sequel. You can view more of their work on their official YouTube page.
