The new Sony film, expected to release in February 2017, has garnered a massive following throughout production. Not only is there a large fanbase for the book and comic series, but the addition of superstars Matthew McConaughey and Idris Elba has sky-rocketed excitement for Dark Tower.

Roland "The Gunslinger" Deschain, played by Idris Elba is roaming a western landscape, and our modern world, in search of the infamous Dark Tower. Matthew McConaughey's Man In Black is doing his best to tear the world apart in the process.

If you thought this was going to be a western-style movie, this trailer blew away your expectations. Parts of the film take place in the old west, but a large chunk will take place in modern cities. The Dark Tower has power reaching across multiple realities, and it will be up to Roland to stop the terror.

The footage seemed very reminiscent of the typical apocalypse thriller, but contains aspects of the Lord Of The Rings series. It's a unique blend of genres that looks to capture the attention of the audience from the get-go.

The Dark Tower book series was written by Stephen King, and it is made up of eight different books. It was also spun-off into multiple comic series for Marvel Comics.
