John Carpenter clearly doesn't think too highly of Rob Zombie. A video of the Carpenter, who helmed films such as The Fog, Christine, and Assault on Precinct 13, recently resurfaced of when he was speaking to a group of students at the New York Film Academy. The 68-year-old director gave a scathing critique of Rob Zombie and his 2007 remake of Carpenter's classic slasher film Halloween.

"He lied about me," Carpenter recalled while discussing an interview that Zombie gave regarding the Halloween remake. "He said I was very cold to him when he told me he was going to make it. Nothing could be further from the truth. I said, 'Make it your own movie, man. This is yours now. Don't worry about me.' I was incredibly supportive. Why that piece of sh*t lied, I don't know."

The remake went on to gross $58 million at the domestic box office, but received mostly negative reviews from the critics. Because he felt that Zombie lied about their conversation prior to the film, Carpenter explained that the interaction tainted his perception of Zombie's Halloween and the subsequent sequel released in 2009, according to EW.

"I thought he took away the mystique of the story by explaining too much about [Michael Myers]," Carpenter explained. "I don't care about that. He's supposed to be a force of nature, he's supposed to be almost supernatural, and he was too big, it wasn't normal."

Currently, Carpenter is working as an executive-producer on a new Halloween sequel. He said in a statement earlier this year, "Thirty-eighty years after the original Halloween I'm going to help to try to make the 10th sequel the scariest of them all."

Check out the video above to see Carpenter talking to the New York Film Academy about movies and the industry. The part when Carpenter talks about Rob Zombie comes in around the 17-minute mark.
