On Thursday night, Larry Wilmore will be bringing back his long-time pal Jon Stewart for the final episode of The Nightly Show. The show was recently cancelled by the network, so Wilmore wanted to bring back one of his most celebrated on-air former colleagues. Despite Stewart's appearance on the show's final episode, Wilmore wants to keep the event low-key.

Wilmore stated: "We're just going to be simple [Thursday] night," the host said in an interview Wednesday. "We're gonna do a little reminiscing. I'm going to talk to all the contributors — although Mike Yard and Ricky Velez unfortunately aren't going to be here because they already had plans to be away. But everybody else should be around. Jon Stewart is going to drop by, and I'm going to talk to him. So he'll be popping in."

During Stewart's tenure as the host of The Daily Show, Wilmore served as the "Senior Black Correspondent" for years. This role played a huge part in the development of the spin-off hosted by Wilmore. Stewart is credited as the creator of the show and is also an executive producer alongside Wilmore. Stewart's departure from Comedy Central greatly impacted the success of The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore. "That was a huge lead-in loss," Wilmore stated to Fast Company.

While Wilmore admitted that he was going to have Stewart and a slew of other contributors to the show in attendance, he was not willing to divulge what he and Stewart had planned for the final episode. "You'll just have to wait and see," Wilmore stated.

The final episode of The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore airs on Thursday at 11:30 p.m. ET on Comedy Central.
