The View has a new co-host!

PEOPLE reports that Sara Haines, an ABC News correspondent and Pop News anchor for the weekend editions of Good Morning America, has been announced as a new co-host on The View for its 20th season. Haines has previously appeared on the show over 30 times at the Hot Topics table.

Haines will join moderator Whoopi Goldberg and co-hosts Joy Behar, Candace Cameron Bure, Paula Faris and Raven-Symoné. Jedediah Bila and Sunny Hostin are also being introduced to the show this season and will appear frequently.

"We have such a smart, funny and fearless group of women who bring unparalleled passion and opinions to the hot topics table every single day," said the show's executive producer Candi Carter. "We have an exciting season 20 planned and plenty of surprises in store."

Before this casting news was announced, however, The View's co-host Whoopi Goldberg took to Twitter to weigh in on the show's hiring decisions.

After the Daily Mail alleged that Goldberg was partly responsible for Paula Faris demotion, as Faris was moved from five days a week on the show to one and allegedly blamed Goldberg, the show's longtime moderator quickly clapped back on social media Wednesday morning.

"Contrary to what you might read ...I do NOT run ABC nor do I own or produce, not involved in hiring for The View so don't send your resumes," Goldberg wrote. "I'm not responsible for firing or moving people around or negotiating my coworkers' contracts. I LIKE having a gig and as much as I'd like to rule the entire universe, I have enough to do in my life than to take mean girl pleasure at someone else's WRONGLY perceived change."

"Also Daily Mail, knowing that people talk A lot, do you honestly think I would talk or act in such a way that would give you ANY ability to know Anything I think?" she added. "No, Daily Mail, I wouldn't. So if you're going to continue to accuse me of doing this kind of thing, could you make something someone my age would do? For goodness sake, the only botch fest is the one in talk's minds. No fight here, just clearing up an untruth."
