Justice League
If you need someone to save your world from a global catastrophe, you may just want to call up Bruce Wayne. After all, Gotham's vigilante is able to contact several of DC Comics' famous heroes at a moment's notice.
Warner Bros. dropped a special teaser trailer for their Justice League (2017) film at SDCC to rave reactions. The studio about broke Twitter as fans and industry insiders geeked out over the packed clip. Arguably the most anticipated video to debut at the convention, Justice League has now shown fans its humorous side, courtesy of Ezra Miller's Barry Allen/The Flash. Because, even though we probably shouldn't, we all have to laugh when the teenage hero admits he "needs friends."
Also, can we talk about this trailer's soundtrack? Selecting The White Stripes' "Icky Thump" was an absolutely brilliant idea. Kudos, guys!
Justice League will hit theaters on November 17th 2017.
prevnextDoctor Strange
After watching Doctor Strange's SDCC trailer, plenty of fans started wondering whether they could handle seeing the film in IMAX 3D. The film appears to feature all sorts of optical illusions and mind-bending movie magic that could make viewers sick. And, honestly, the film's newest trailer is pretty sick - but in the good way.
Doctor Strange's latest trailer gives more insight into the film's story as several major characters are finally seen more clearly. Of course, Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) features prominently in the video, but Mads Mikkelsen's villainous role finally gets some much-needed screen time. The Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) also expands her role as Strange's mentor in the movie, telling him she's, "spent so many years...looking for you."
Doctor Strange will hit theaters later this year on November 4th 2016.
prevnextSuicide Squad
"Thank Squad, the wait is almost over."
I don't think anyone could've said it better themselves. Warner Bros. dropped what's likely their final theatrical trailer for Suicide Squad ahead of its impending release, and fans went wild over it. The studio has done all they can to hype the renegade team as one of the best, and fans are already speculating that Suicide Squad is shaping up to be the greatest comic book film of the year.
The trailer gives more plot details to viewers, indicating that some powerful magical force has taken hold of a metropolis. While it's not been confirmed, the video seems to tease that The Enchantress has something to do with all the ruckus, something that's wholly unsurprising. However, it's Harley Quinn who really shines in the trailer as she's found in its final scene manhandling a unknown creature in an elevator. Beating it to death with her trusty bat, Harley then walks out of to her teammates' surprise as they had all gathered to help her out.
But clearly, the wacked-out villian didn't any help, puddin'.
prevnextKing Arthur: Legend Of The Sword
Directed by Guy Ritchie, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword stands to become the newest film depicting the fabled king. The upcoming film was pushed out to fans during the busy SDCC weekend and has gotten fans hyped to see Charlie Hunnam wield Excalibur prophetic blade.
In the trailer, fans were given better look at Jude Law's Vortigern, the deceitful king who murdered Arthur's parent and overtook Camelot. Guinevere, who's being played by Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey, was also seen covered in a green cloak amongst the film's breath-taking scenery.
King Arthur: Legend of the Sword is scheduled to hit theaters March 24th 2017.
prevnextWonder Woman
We should pity the fools who try to invade Themyscira. Because, in the face of Wonder Woman, you're definitely going to lose.
Warner Bros. unveiled their first footage from Wonder Woman's solo film, and fans went wild. The video shows Wonder Woman, who's also known by her alias Diana Prince, as she meets a man for the first time. Soldier Steve Trevor somehow washed on Themyscira's shore, and soon enough, Diana uses him to enter the mortal world. She greets the new world's brutality with strength, countering its on-going war and gender inequality with a lasso (and waspish tongue).
And, very importantly, her lasso glows, guys. It actually glows, and fans all over the world can still be heard cheering over that one CGI concession.
Wonder Woman will debut in theaters on June 2nd 2017.
prevnextFantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them
The magic of Harry Potter will soon return to theaters as Warner Bros. will have Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them apparate into theaters this fall. And, as such, the studio has rolled out another trailer to appease long-time fans of the franchise.
The latest trailer finally gives fans a glimpse of the special, magical creatures that Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) brings to America . The wizard, of course, loses track of several of them, putting him into direct conflict with the country's magical authorities, the Magical Congress of the United States of America. Teaming up with some new acquaintances, Newt must recover all of the animals before their presence threatens to start a war between American wizards and no-majs community.
For most fans, I think we can agree with the trailer's parting words which come courtesy of Jacob Kowalski's Dan Fogler as he says, "I want to be a wizard."
Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them will creep into theaters on November 18th 2016.
prevnextKong: Skull Island
As humans, we tend to be comfortable with our status at the top of the food chain. But, in Kong: Skull Island, a group of unsuspecting explorers quickly find out what it's like to have that position overtaken.
The SDCC trailer for Kong: Skull Island gives fans loads of information on the upcoming monster flick. Starring Tom Hiddleston, the film will focus on a group of explorers surveying a mysterious island with the government's assistance. However, one participant named Randa (John Goodman) withholds one piece of important information from the group. And, sadly, he only tells them of his lowkey monster-hunting hobbies after a helicopter is downed by an actual flying tree.
"This planet doesn't belong to us," he explains. "Ancient species owned this Earth long before mankind. I've spent over thirty years trying to prove the truth that monsters exist."
Well, dude. It looks like you succeeded because you've finally found them.
Kong: Skull Island will hit theaters next year on March 10th 2017.
prevnextThe LEGO Batman Movie
Holy Smokes, Batman! You've been turned into a LEGO - and fans are kind of loving it. SDCC saw the debut trailer for The LEGO Batman Movie launch, and the whole thing is really pretty hilarious.
I mean, Bruce Wayne/Batman having his Batcave's computer privileges overruled by Alfred is something some fans have always dreamt of. The surly, and undoubtedly fed-up butler, tells Batman he needs to shape up for the sake of his son. Batman, of course, is confused by this announcement until he remembers he (jokingly) decided to adopt a child at a gala. And ta-da - we now welcome Dick Grayson's Robin to the film.
Did I mention we meet the sidekick as he's rolling off a long banquet table? Yup, that's the kind of quality assistance Batman has been needing.
But, when The Joker threatens to takeover Gotham, it's up to Batman to take up his vigilante mantle once more alongside Robin. And, of course, nothing goes quite as planned.
The LEGO Batman Movie will be released on February 10th 2017.
prevnextSausage Party
Seth Rogen's Sausage Party looks like it aims to take the appetite right out of its viewers. The R-rate animated comedy will hit theaters later this year and will follow the story of an unassuming sausage who finds his peaceful grocery life ruined after he's finally purchased.
Undergoing a massive existential crisis, Frank the Sausage learns that food is apparently made to be eaten. And, yes, that means the poor piece of meat would feel every bit of being cooked. Escaping his prison called the kitchen, Frank embarks on a journey to his old home - Shopwell's Grocery Store - to inform his fellow perishable goods of their fate.
The very NSFW trailer above showcases all of the different foods which come together and raise their toothpicks against the injustice humanity sprinkles upon them. I mean, who knew Twinkies and Pop-Tarts had such great aim?
Sausage Party will be released this fall on August 12th 2016.
