Happy Birthday! Sylvester Stallone Turns 70 Years Old

Today is Sylvester Stallone's birthday.

A major action star to this day, Stallone has headlined some the biggest adventure films throughout the past several decades. Viewers will know him best as Rocky Balboa from the Rocky film series, and John Rambo from the Rambo film series. But even in his later years, Stallone managed to headline a new action franchise with The Expendables. He proved his acting chops are still there in his award-nominated return to the Balboa role in last year's fantastically reviewed Rocky spinoff Creed.

Stallone also famously played the comic book hero Judge Dredd in the self-titled 1995 film, but will be adding another superhero film to his resume in Guardian's of the Galaxy Vol. 2, though his official role hasn't been revealed. He also lent his voice to the recent animated project Ratchet & Clank.

His other notable roles include Demolition Man, Bullet To The Head, and Escape Plan. Born in New York City, Stallone turns 70 today. Happy birthday, Sylvester Stallone.
